🗓️ Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Mbeya Arrival → Transfer to Kitulo
Pick-up from Mbeya Airport or city center
Scenic drive through the Southern Highlands to Kitulo Plateau (~2.5 hrs)
Settle in and enjoy a sunset walk near the lodge
Accommodation: Highland lodge or basic eco-camp
Day 2: Hike to Njombe Viewpoints & Wildflower Meadows
Full-day guided hike through the Kitulo grasslands, wildflower fields, and Njombe ridges
Spot endemic orchids (in season), sunbirds, and colorful butterflies
Picnic lunch on the trail with spectacular views
Accommodation: Same lodge or eco-camp
Day 3: Explore Matamba Escarpment & Birdwatching Trail
Morning trek to Matamba escarpment—excellent birdwatching and vistas
Chance to see Denham’s bustard, montane nightjars, and other rare species
Afternoon at leisure or optional nature walk around the lodge

Day 4: Visit Small Falls or Cultural Encounter (Optional)
Choose between a short hike to a nearby waterfall, or a visit to a local village for a cultural experience
Great opportunity to photograph local life and landscapes
Final sunset over the plateau

Day 5: Return to Mbeya / Onward Travel
Breakfast and transfer back to Mbeya
